Group Roles
Each member of the group is responsible to depict the point of view of a Jewish Adult, Jewish Child, German Soldier or a Rescuer through a diary entry. Each diary entry should be 2 paragraphs containing at least 8-10 sentences per paragraph. The diary entry should include an illustration depicting the perspective of your role. Use Number the Stars, "Ghetto Uprising- Lachava, Poland," or other Holocaust literature to assist you.

*Note: Each member is accountable for their role along with assisting other members in your group. This is joint effort and all members are responsible for the final product of the project.

ROLES:

Jewish Adult: You are a Jewish adult living in Poland. Hundreds of Nazis and their accomplices have searched the city to trap every Jewish person through military force and you have no means of self-defense. You are either in hiding or you have been caught by the German Soldiers, describe what you see and how you are feeling. Perhaps you have a family, what is your role as a parent during this horrific time?

Jewish Child: You are Jewish child during the Holocaust. You’re forced to go into hiding with your family. You are not allowed to play outside or go to school with the other kids. Describe how you feel about being obligated to stay inside and be quiet.

German Soldier: You are a German soldier of the Nazi Regime. You are commanded to take Jewish people from their homes. You oppose Hitler’s orders of persecuting the Jews. Explain how you feel being a part of the military even though you disagree with the mistreatment of innocent people.

Rescuer: You are a non-Jewish person living in Poland during the Holocaust. You are hiding a Jewish family in your home. Why did you choose to help the Jews? Are you scared to be caught? Depict how you feel knowing your putting yourself in danger by doing such a heroic act.
